Emberá Drua - Update along the Journey!
The Emberá group is mainly based in the neighbouring Darien Province within the Emberá-Wounaan territory, but over half a century ago, a branch of their community started migrating towards the province of Panama, settling down on a piece of land along the Chagres River, one of the most important streams of water in the country.
They live off the land, the water and also recently from the increase in tourism. Their location, one hour away from the city center, attracts daily visitors from Panama and around the world.
We visited three of their settlements, each varying in size and infrastructure but at the same time all interconnected with one another and also working in unison with their main center of organisation in Darien.
Below are some previews of what we were able to share with them.
